An environment where anyone can achieve work-life balance and demonstrate their full potential.
Human Resources and Corporate Planning Dept.
We've created a culture that makes it easy for both men and women to take parental leave.
I currently work in both the Human Resources and Corporate Planning Dept., and my focus has always been on how to create a good work environment.
Initially assigned to the Marketing & Development Div., I was in charge of promotions at the coppice KICHIJOJI Management Center in Tokyo. The turning point came four years after I transferred to the Property Acquisition and Development Dept. Upon returning from a year of maternity and parental leave, I was asked to create systems and environments that I would find conducive to working, leading to my transfer to the Corporate Div. At that time, few within the company managed to balance parenting and work, so we introduced flextime and telework, allowing everyone to work efficiently, unrestricted by time or location.
Today, not only women but also men are increasingly taking parental leave, and flexible work arrangements, such as starting work after dropping children off at daycare, have become the norm. We have of course expanded leave and holiday systems as well, not only for childbirth and childcare but also for caregiving, so that each worker can advance their career while balancing work and life.
The relocation of the head office has led to improved communication within the office.
In addition to enhancing systems, I was also in charge of the head office relocation project. The old office had fixed seating, which made communication between departments difficult, and lacked spaces for concentrating. The new office adopts an Activity Based Working (ABW) approach, allowing workers to choose a workspace based on the task, and has introduced hot desking. After the relocation, employees reported feeling more comfortable and productive, and communication across departments has improved. Currently, the Human Resources Dept. is working on improving employee engagement and promoting women's participation, while the Strategic Management Department focuses on key sustainability issues and regularly hosts company-wide sessions to foster unity among employees through our new corporate identity, which consists of our Purpose of "Fostering the future of cities through imagination and action" and our 4 Values.
My career has been a series of challenges, from my start in sales promotions at a shopping center to the present. Sustainability is a new field for me, but I am studying every day to become a leading expert within the company. Mitsubishi Corporation Urban Development provides an environment that helps workers take on challenges. Going forward, I plan to continually create a better work environment so that all employees can take on new challenges and advance their careers.
